CITYNET members of Nepal took an initiative for formalizing the establishment of the CITYNET National Chapter -Nepal in August 2001 under the prevailing laws of Nepal. CITYNET National Chapter-Nepal provides a platform for member municipalities and organizations to expand their networks and strengthen capacity and enhance skills through participation in various national and international training, workshop, study visit and many other activities.
Membership
- The National Chapter was established with 9 Municipalities as Secretariat Members and 21 Municipalities and MuAN as active members
- In 2007, seven municipalities have joined the Chapter as new members and few other are in process to join.
- Even all the municipalities are eligible to get membership, the CITYNET council is authorized body to review and provide the membership. It is mandatory to submit application with commitment to pay annual membership.

• Workshop on Follow up of Localization of MDGs in Municipalities of Nepal, September 2006, Kathmandu.
• General Council Meeting, September 2006, Kathmandu.
• CITYNET National Chapter was Co-organizer of the Training Workshop on Leadership Training on Localizing MDGs through community empowerment, at Kathmandu
